Symptoms of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma

The signs or symptoms of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) may vary depending on the type of NHL, where it originated, and its degree of evolution. Other medical conditions can cause the same symptoms as the NHL.

The most frequently observed symptom of the NHL is the swelling of lymph nodes in the neck, armpit or groin. Swollen lymph nodes are usually painless, but they may end up exerting pressure on the tissues or organs surrounding them and causing discomfort or suffering.

Other frequent NHL symptoms are as follows:

Rash or itchy skin on the chest, stomach and back
Unexplained fatigue
Some NHL symptoms are generalized, which means they affect the whole body. These are B-symptoms, or systemic symptoms, which usually include these:

Unexplained fever above 38 °c, which does not disappear
Important night sweats (enough to wet night clothes and bedding)
Unexplained weight loss equal to more than 10% of body weight over the previous 6 months
Symptoms depending on where the NHL appears

Headache
Double Vision
numbness of the face
Difficulty thinking
Difficulty talking

A bone marrow NHL can cause bone pain to the legs, ribs, spine or pelvis. It can also reduce the number of blood cells, which may cause the following symptoms:

Fatigue
An NHL of skin often appears in the form of masses under the skin that are red or violet and itchy.
